3.3.2 Interchangeability Component parts of assembled units (unless
othewise specified on the applicable drawings fabricated in accordance with
applicable drawings shall be interchangeable and shall assemble with mating
components of the unit without selection for fit or performance.
3.3,3 Threads Unless otherwise specified, all threads shall be in
accordance with the National Bureau of Standards Handbook H28.
3.4 Magnetic characteristic. The static magnetic effeet of the wire
rope assembly shall not be great enough to cause a total change in flux density
of the background magnetic field of more than 0.10 milligauss (peak to
trough)
3.5 Cleanup. Prior to and after final assembly, all parts components
and the assembly shall be thoroughly cleaned of metal chips and other foreign
3.6 Workmanship Workmanship shall be in accordance with
Requirement 9 of MIL-STD-454.
4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1 Responsibility for inspection. unless otherwise specified in the
contract, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection
requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the
contract, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable
for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless
disapproved by the Government The Government reserves the right to perfrom ,
any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections
are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed
requirements
4.2 Classification of inspection. Inspection of wire rope assembly
shall be classified as follows:
a. first article inspection (see 4.4)
b. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.5)
c. periodic production inspection (see 4.6)
4.3 Test equipment . The following item of test equipment is required
to perform the tests required in this specification:
Test Set Mark 115 type with Adapter Mark 36 Mod O and
Magnetic Effects Test Stand Mark 9 Mod O (Government furnished).
4.4 First article inspection.
4.4.1 First article testing. The first article sample of five (5)
wire rope assemblies (see 3.2) shall be subjected to the examinations and
tests detailed in 4.7 (see Table I) at an activity designated by the
procuring activity. Further production of the wire rope assembly by the
supplier, prior to approval of the sample, shall be at the supplier's risk.
